About This Project

A comprehensive guide to Slavic mythology

Project Overview

This website represents my research into Slavic mythology, folklore, and cultural traditions. As someone of Croatian heritage, I wanted to create an accessible English-language resource that covers both well-known and obscure aspects of our mythology.

The project began as a personal endeavor to document and preserve Slavic mythological knowledge that is often overlooked in mainstream resources. I gathered information from historical texts, academic papers, and oral traditions.

The content is organized into four main sections:

  • Gods - Major deities like Perun, Veles, and Mokosh
  • Creatures - Mythical beings from Baba Yaga to Domovoi
  • Stories - Legends and folktales passed through generations
  • Culture - Traditions, symbols, and modern interpretations

Disclaimer

This website represents my personal interpretations of Slavic mythology based on:

  • Academic research and historical sources
  • Folk traditions from various Slavic regions
  • Comparative mythology studies
  • Archaeological findings

Slavic mythology varies significantly across regions and time periods. I've indicated where interpretations differ or where information is reconstructed.
